MACAU, October 21 - Melco Resorts & Entertainment and Macao University of Tourism Development Foundation (UTMDF) Donation Agreement Signing Ceremony was held at the Forward Building on Taipa campus of the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) on 20 October 2026. Dr. Cheung Kin Chung, Chair of the Executive Committee of UTMDF, and Mr. Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco, signed the donation agreement. Melco has donated MOP 1 million to UTMDF. The donation will support UTM’s academic development and institutional advancement, including optimising the learning environment, enhancing teaching and research quality, and expanding international cooperation, to drive the high‑quality development of UTM.

Ms. Cen Jiayi, Director of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Wong Chio In, Head of Department of Educational Research and Planning of the Education and Youth Development Bureau; Dr. Fanny Vong Chuk Kwan, Rector of UTM, together with Ms. Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Chairman and CEO of Melco, officiated at the ceremony. In addition, members of the UTMDF and the UTM Council, representative of the UTM Student Union, as well as faculty and students, attended the event.

Dr. Cheung Kin Chung, Chair of the Executive Committee of UTMDF, expressed gratitude for Melco’s generous donation. He noted that Macao’s cultural and tourism industry is advancing towards high-quality, sustainable development, and the sector is in urgent need of interdisciplinary talents with academic grounding, industrial vision and innovative thinking. As a benchmark enterprise in Macao’s integrated tourism and leisure industry, Melco, while consolidating its business and driving industrial upgrading, consistently incorporates educational and youth development into its corporate social responsibility framework, giving back to Macao’s local community through concrete actions. This donation will further deepen strategic university-enterprise collaboration, facilitate the integration of industrial resources into teaching, enable academic research to inform industrial practice, and continuously supply outstanding cultural and tourism talents suited to Macao’s industry development needs.

Mr. Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco, expressed that talent is the key driver for the development of Macao’s tourism industry, and Melco is committed to supporting the SAR government’s “1+4” strategy for economic diversification. Over the years, UTM has cultivated a large number of outstanding professionals for the sector. Melco is honoured to have a longstanding and close partnership with UTM. Through this donation, he hopes to support the University’s long-term development. Looking ahead, Melco will continue to work hand in hand with UTM to deepen collaboration in talent development and jointly contribute to Macao’s appropriate economic diversification.

This marks the third in a series of donation ceremonies with integrated tourism and leisure enterprises. Further similar events will be organised in partnership with more leisure enterprises to pool resources from all sectors of society in support of UTM’s development. These efforts will help Macao integrate into national development initiatives and consolidate the talent base for high‑quality cultural‑tourism development in the Greater Bay Area.
